Textile Arts: Knitting Workshop

Ever wanted to learn how to knit, or how to make great holiday gifts while relieving stress and boosting your immune system?  Now you can!  Local textile artist Lisa Clemons will be introducing beginners into the mysteries of knitting. You'll learn how to cast on, knit, purl,  bind off, and how to follow a pattern.  Cool fact:  scientists have found that knitting and other rhythmic needlework actually changes brain chemistry, decreasing stress hormones and increasing feel-good serotonin and dopamine.  One short session will open a door to a great new hobby -- in no time, you'll be making gifts for your friends and improving your health.

All ages welcome.  Knitting can be learned by children as young as 7.

Lisa Clemons is a self-taught and experimental jack-of-all-trades textile artist. A 2009 UIUC graduate, she studied Anthropology and Linguistics, and incorporates nuances of culture and communication into her art with an understanding of and an appreciation for how these different aspects of humanity are tied together. Follow her blog or contact her at Foxchic85 at yahoo.com.
