Campfire Singalong: Sea Shanties and more with Lee Murdock

To the merchant sailors working on tall ships on the Great Lakes, the songs provided the cadence for the work. Many of the songs they sang were freshwater variations on the salt-water shanties known from ocean sailors, with Great Lakes ports and landmarks. Often the songs had a call-and-response format, with the shantyman singing a line and the sailors singing the response line as they worked. In addition to the singing, workshop attendees will try to visualize "the work in the songs" as well. This workshop is for everyone, young and old, people with a great singing voice and even those with less group singing experience. (After all, not all the sailors could sing that well!!).
