Come one, come all, come learn the autoharp! The autoharp is a classic mountain folk instrument, carrying resonances of American history and the south. Waltzes, reels, bluegrass, sweetly romantic pieces all come alive on this unique, portable, easy to learn instrument. In this workshop, we'll learn about playing, tuning, and caring for autoharps, as well as how to acquire one. We'll try playing and singing a few songs from Rise Up Singing, so if you have a copy, bring it along! And if you have an autoharp, please bring it along! Beginners and old hands welcome.
Workshop led by Jamie Lou Carras. Jamie Lou performs with Michael Jones in Grass Roots Revival, a bluegrass duo. She has sung harmonies all her life and played upright bass, bluegrass style, for 25+ years. For the last 5+ years she has been playing the autoharp with a vengeance!
