The Backsliders are a real Honky Tonk Country and Western band from Central Illinois. Founded by Greg Baker, they have been playing traditional classic Country and Western music in private clubs and honky tonks in the area for the last 10 years or more. Greg passed away last year and is dearly missed. A gifted singer, Greg had a deep love for Country and Western music and had kept a four piece C&W band going in the Central Illinois area for the last 30 years. This band was one of his favorite lineups. Continuing in the Country and Western tradition, The Backsliders now consist of Bo Bobell on drums, Ed Clem on bass, Doug Greenlee on guitar and Bob Watson on pedal steel guitar. If you love real Country and Western music, you'll love the Backsliders. Come on out and give them a listen at the CU Folk and Roots festival.
