John Cheeseman was raised with Scottish, English, Irish and American traditional music and has been sharing it with audiences for more than 30 years, even if he never quit his day job. In the Champaign-Urbana area, he is best known to the students at Leal School, especially the 3rd and 4th graders who sang with him weekly for nearly 20 years (not all the same kids, of course). He has also performed at both the Urbana and Champaign libraries, at Allen Hall on the University campus, and at folk festivals throughout central Illinois.
